Mother Nature is hopefully giving us a taste of things to come - after a hot, dry summer the immediate forecast has multiple days of rain in it. Temps are cooling off as well - overnight lows in Vail are now getting down into the 40s (a couple of forecasted nights in the upper 30s), and daytime highs are going to start struggling to crack 60 degrees. The pattern is similar down valley in terms of rain, but the temps in Eagle are always a bit warmer with the ranges running from 45-54 degrees at night to 63-71 degrees during the day.
All of which means it is crucial to make sure you have the right gear if you are going to head out for any of the upcoming outdoor events!

The final Hot Summer Nights concert at the Gerald R Ford Amphitheater in Vail is on September 15. Yesterday and Today, a Beatles tribute band, closes the series down with a fun twist - before the show starts, “audience members are asked to fill out a request card with their name, favorite Beatles song, and the reason why they chose that song. The band uses this input to create the show’s playlist. Gates open at 5:30PM and the show starts at 6:30PM.
The weekend of September 18-20 is going to be packed in Vail. Leaf peeping should be in full swing, along with the final local Oktoberfest celebration. The Farmer’s Market is on Sunday, as usual, and for the 18th year the Village and Lionshead will host some cool cars that you can get up close and personal with for free.

The Vail Concours has been a staple on the fall event calendar in Vail since 2009. It brings together both owners and enthusiasts of a diverse array of sports cars, classic cars, and motorcycles for a 3 day event in and around Vail.
Two components of the weekend are free to spectators: Cars & Coffee from 9-11AM on September 19th provides an opportunity to peruse the collection at the base of Gondola One in the Village, and the main Vail Concours competition takes place on Sunday in Lionshead from 9AM-3PM.
The Love for the Locals fall music series returns to the Vilar with a handful of performances between September 25 and October 27 - including a tribute to Carlos Santana on October 16. Passes for the series are $125/person and include tickets to all 5 shows and a drink at each show. Tickets to individual shows are also available through the Vilar box office.

October 9-11 the Town of Avon hosts its FreeFall Bluegrass Festival at Nottingham Park. Don’t let the title of the festival fool you - it is a ticketed event with pass prices ranging from $50-$350 depending on how many days you want and if you are interested in the VIP experience.
And Red Rocks Amphitheater carries on its programming with a current schedule of events that goes through mid-November if you still want to scratch your outdoor music itch. Being of a certain generation, the Insider is particularly keen on the September 17 show with Get the Led Out!
