If Beaver Creek has a front door, it's the Park Hyatt. Walk out one side and you're at the base of the mountain; walk out the other and you're in the heart of the village, with the ice rink, the shops and the cookie-scented evening crowd.

The hotel has been a fixture since 1989, which is exactly why its latest chapter is worth a closer look. After a top-to-bottom refresh of its lobby, bar and guest rooms, the Park Hyatt finally feels on the inside the way Beaver Creek has always felt on the outside.

What's new

The refresh started in the public spaces. The reworked lobby is built around a cantilevered live-edge wood bench framing a honed granite fireplace, where LED light and water vapor create the look of dancing flames. The reception, bar and market areas were redone too, with the goal of making the hotel feel like a gathering place for the village rather than just a place to sleep.

The guest rooms followed, carrying the same "mountain modern" look upstairs. Every room and suite got updated bathrooms. Rather than rip out the custom cabinetry, the team refinished it, a nod to craftsmanship and sustainability. A curated art collection gives the rooms the feel of a well-appointed Beaver Creek home.

Don't expect a gadget-heavy, tech-forward makeover. The new look is warm and residential, which suits a ski hotel just fine.

The location does the heavy lifting

This is where the Park Hyatt earns its reputation. The Beaver Creek ski and snowboard school is roughly 20 steps from the hotel, which turns the usual morning scramble of boots, kids and lift tickets into a short stroll. Experts get the same easy access to the lifts.

On the other side sits the village: the ice rink, shops and restaurants are all right outside. Families will also find sleigh rides and snowshoeing close by, part of why Beaver Creek has a reputation as one of the most family-friendly resorts in the Rockies.

Eating, drinking and unwinding

For dinner, 8100 Mountainside is still one of the village's go-to spots, with a seasonal mountain menu built on what's fresh. It isn't cheap, but it's a reliable choice for a special night without leaving the building.

For something more casual, the refreshed Brass Bear Bar is a natural après stop. The Fall Line Epicurean market covers snacks and supplies at any hour. And when your legs have had enough, there's the on-site Allegria Spa, plus a heated outdoor pool and five hot tubs open year-round.
